Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ghana to the Burkina Faso
H.E. Kenneth Akibate assumed office as the Ghanaian Ambassador to Burkina Faso on 30th November 2025 and subsequently presented his Letters of Credence to the President and Head of State of Burkina Faso, H.E. Captain Ibrahim Traore, on 5th December 2025. He is a seasoned diplomat and public servant with over two decades of experience in international relations, security management, and multilateral governance. A decorated former Army Officer of the Ghana Armed Forces, he has extensive operational and leadership experience from United Nations and ECOWAS peacekeeping missions, including senior command roles.
Ambassador Akibate has held senior leadership positions within the Parliament of Ghana and the Pan-African Parliament of the African Union, where he was most recently responsible for Finance, Administration and Human Resources, alongside his longstanding responsibilities for ceremonies, security, estate, and general services management. He is widely recognised for his expertise in diplomatic protocol, crisis leadership, strategic planning, risk management, and the coordination of high-level international engagements.
He holds an MBA in Strategic Management from Roehampton University in London (UK), BA Hons in Psychology and Political Science from the University of Ghana and an Advanced Diplomatic Training from the Clingendael Institute of International Relations in The Hague. He is fluent in English and French and speaks Kassem.
